The events of the action take place in 1603 on the Japanese island of Hokkaido, which at the time of
the game was called Ezo. The main character is a female warrior named Atsu. She has to explore a
large area located at the foot of the majestic volcano Yotei. Nothing is known about Atsu's motives
and her personal history. However, we do know from the trailer that she will be wearing a ghost mask
throughout the game, the same mask worn by the samurai Jin Sakai in Ghost of Tsushima.
Another connection to the plot of the previous game remains a mystery for now, if there is one at
all. Atsu's adventure takes place 300 years after the story of Jin and the Mongol attack on the
Japanese island of Tsushima, so it's hard to imagine Sakai's participation in the events of the new
game - he can only appear as an image from ancient legends about an elusive killer, in whose
footsteps Atsu will follow. At the moment, though, this is just speculation.
Nevertheless, it is known that Ghost of Yotei will have several biomes - at least dense forests,
endless fields and snowy locations in the mountains. In addition, from the real history we know that
in the early XVII century on the island of Ezo were not only noble samurai, but also robbers and
pirates, and many civilians suffering from the raids of bandits. Perhaps, the story of the new
action game will be devoted to fighting with such criminals.
Ghost of Yotei gameplay
Ghost of Yotei gameplay will resemble Ghost of Tsushima gameplay in many ways. We are talking about
a third-person action game in a large open world, in which, in addition to the main tasks, there
will be room for side quests and a variety of activities such as searching for amulets in ancient
buildings and mining unique items of equipment.
The combat system, judging by the debut trailer, will remain as dynamic and spectacular - and based
on battles using katanas and additional weapons like smoke bombs. At the same time, Atsu, unlike Jin
Sakai, will have firearms at his disposal - albeit primitive and limited by the conditions of his
time, but still extremely deadly and much more dangerous than bows and arrows.
In addition to open combat, Ghost of Yotei will surely give you the opportunity to deal with your
opponents stealthily, just as the protagonist of the previous game did. Stealth in the grass, using
items to attract the attention of enemies, killing from the shadows - the new action game will
undoubtedly inherit all these elements.
